Cyprus has a lively cultural scene filled with music events, art activities, workshops, and theater performances. From concerts by young musicians to art walks and major theater shows, there’s something for everyone who wants to enjoy the culture.
MUSIC
In Larnaca, the Municipal Theater “G. Lykourgos” will host one of two concerts on Saturday, March 14 at 6 p.m. This is part of the “Crossing Paths: A Concert Series.” These concerts showcase the growth and creativity of young musicians from Sistema Cyprus. The artistic director and conductor is Santiago Ossa Alzate. The second concert will be in Nicosia at the Satiriko Theater on Sunday, April 5 at 6 p.m. You can get tickets through Sold Out Tickets.
ART
In Nicosia, the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art SPEL will have a talk with artist Maria Loizidou at 11 a.m. This is part of the “Artistic Thought and Practice” series linked to the exhibition “Agropoetics: Soils/Bodies.” Maria will discuss her work and how politically engaged art connects with poetic expression and social change.
At the same time, NiMAC – Nicosia Municipal Arts Centre will host a unique walk at 10:30 a.m. as part of the “Fluid Persistence” exhibition. Titled “From Machairas to Klapsides,” this activity explores geography, memory, and cultural history along the Pedieos River. Evi Tselika will guide the walk, focusing on Nicosia’s Old City and its water connections. Reservations are needed due to limited spots (tel. 22797400).
WORKSHOP
At Dance House Nicosia at 10 a.m., an event from the Green Steps program will take place, blending dance with ecological awareness. Today’s event, called Performative Roundtable, features an open discussion about needs, concerns, and creative educational methods linking ecology with dance. It’s for anyone interested in environmental issues, culture, and education – artists, choreographers, educators, environmentalists, kids, teens, and parents. Petros Konnaris will coordinate the discussion.
THEATER
The theater scene in Cyprus is buzzing with new productions and popular ongoing shows.
At Theatre Ena in Nicosia, the famous farce “Boeing Boeing” by Marc Camoletti premieres on Saturday, March 14 at 8:30 p.m., directed by Andreas Christodoulides. The cast includes Dimitris Giorkatzis, Charitini Iliadou, Eirini Karayiouri, Evangelia Nikolaou, Elena Olympiou, and Antonis Parcharidis. Performances run every Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday at 8:30 p.m., and Sunday at 7 p.m., until April 29. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.cy or by calling 22348203.
The Dendro Theater presents Florian Zeller’s play “The Father,” directed by Yiannis Leontaris with Stavros Loura in the lead role. Performances in Nicosia are on March 14, 15, 21, 22 and April 20 and 21; followed by shows in Limassol (Rialto Theater on March 18 at 8 p.m.), Sotira (Municipal Theater on March 27 at 8 p.m.), and Paphos (Markideio Theater on May 13 at 8 p.m.). At WhereHaus 612 in Nicosia for a limited number of performances is “The Island,” directed by Achilleas Grammatikopoulos produced by ETHAL and Point To Contemporary Theater. Shows are on March 14 and 16 at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are available via Sold Out Tickets (tel. 25877827).
On the Main Stage “Evis Gavriilidis” of THOC presents William Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night,” directed by Owen Horsley.
