Nicosia, Limassol, and Paphos are buzzing with culture! There’s something for everyone, from movies to theater and art exhibitions.
Cinema
In Nicosia, the Film Friends Club is showing Dag Johan Haugerud’s film “Dreams” at Pantheon. Catch it at 8:30 PM. The film follows Johanne, a student who falls for her teacher and writes about it in her diary. When her mother and grandmother read it, a heartfelt chat about love and writing begins. This film won the Golden Bear at the Berlin Festival 2025 and has Greek subtitles.
In Limassol, “The Love That Remains” by Hlynur Pálmason screens at Rio Cinema at 8:15 PM. It tells the story of a separated couple who still act like a family with their three kids and dog. It mixes humor and emotion against beautiful Icelandic scenery. This film was Iceland’s Oscar entry and won the Palm Dog at Cannes Festival 2025.
Also, new films like “Marty Supreme,” “28 Years Later: The Bone Temple,” and “Rufus” are playing at RIO cinemas in Nicosia Mall and Limassol. At Pantheon, Kaouther Ben Hania’s film “The Voice of Hind Rajab” is showing until January 22.
Theater
At Chora Theater in Nicosia, Joe Orton’s play “Mr. Sloane’s Tastes” is performed by “Solo for Three,” directed by Maria Mannaridou Karsera. The cast includes Christina Christofia, Chris Spyrou, Haris Pisias, and Fotis Fotios, with live music by Haris Ioannou. Performances are on January 19, 26, and 27 in Nicosia, then moving to Limassol (January 28 at Ypsonas Municipal Theater) and Paphos (January 29 at Markideio).
Exhibitions – Nicosia
The exhibition “Myths of Cyprus” by GTP is at Kasteliotissa until February 25. At the end of Ledra Street, you can see the photo exhibit “Through Ordinary Eyes: Take Four Photographs” until January 23.
At Gloria Gallery, check out “ANAMNESIS” by Stefanos Philippou and Anastasia Sivkova. Marginalia features Sophia Christodoulou’s “Living Forms.” NiMAC showcases “Fluid Persistence,” a group exhibit with 19 artists exploring ecology, water, and storytelling.
Marios and Anna Varella present “Parallel Artistic Searches” at Apokalipsi. The group exhibition “December” continues at Stand in Line. Maurice Cazzolli’s installation “Water Movement Nicosia” will be up in Town Hall Square until late June. Leventis Gallery and the Cultural Foundation of Bank of Cyprus are also hosting major exhibitions during this time.
Exhibitions – Limassol
The group exhibition “Veiling Identities: Resisting Recognition” is on display at NeMe. Claude Como and Theodoulos Grigoriou have works featured at PSI Foundation in “From Nature to Structure: Threads of Dialogue.” Edit Gallery showcases Stella Kapezanou with “Pretty Little Crimes.” Marina Olympiou is featured at 3FHome, while 125 Space presents the group exhibition “In Parallel: Conversations on Love, Life & Light.”
