After three full years in Romania, Elias has resigned.
Elias Charalambous announced last night that he is leaving Steaua. The Cypriot coach won back-to-back championships in 2024 and 2025, secured the Super Cup, and took the Bucharest team to the Europa League group stage twice.
His biggest achievement? He survived three years with the unique president-owner, Gigi Becali.
The Cypriot coach has boosted his profile in the profession. However, this year, Steaua didn’t make it into the top group for the title and European spots. This was the main reason for their split.
He plans to take a break before deciding on his next move. He might consider opportunities in the Arabian Gulf once things settle down after the recent war.
