The first phase of the “Esso Safe Vision” program wrapped up with some important and useful results, involving 235 drivers.
The free eye tests at “Esso” fuel stations in Cyprus showed key findings for road safety. About 11% of drivers do not meet basic vision standards, which means 1 in 9 drivers often drives without realizing their vision is poor. The study also found that 46% of drivers have good vision and drive safely without needing any corrections, while 43% need minor but important adjustments, like glasses or driving tweaks, to lower accident risks.
Experts point out that many drivers are unaware their vision is getting worse, and regular check-ups are vital to prevent traffic accidents. This first phase of the program shows we need more vision checks, reminding us that road safety starts with seeing clearly ahead.
