Repatriation flights for Cypriots in crisis-hit areas of the Middle East start today, Wednesday. This was announced by Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis.
He said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has set up charter flights for Cypriots mainly from the United Arab Emirates. All necessary arrangements are already in place.
The flights will happen only if full security is guaranteed and in coordination with the authorities managing UAE airspace.
Meanwhile, officials from the National Crisis Management Center are in touch with citizens who registered on the ConnectCy platform. They are organizing the repatriation process. Those already registered don’t need to do anything else.
Mr. Letymbiotis also noted that eight Cypriots who were in Israel have returned via a flight from Egypt as part of the repatriation plan.
The Government stresses that safely bringing back Cypriot citizens is a top priority. Relevant services are in constant coordination.
