The Carnival season in Cyprus is more than just events — it’s a vibe that fills the streets. From city neighborhoods to village squares, the atmosphere changes: serenades fill the alleys, carnival songs blend with laughter, spontaneous parties pop up everywhere, and parades burst with color, floats, and costumed revelers. Costume contests, outdoor dances, and groups coming together for one big celebration — that’s the spirit of Carnival.

While Limassol is the star of the carnival show, the excitement spreads all over the island. Other cities and communities join in too, organizing parades and events that bring joy, fun, and entertainment for everyone.

Grand Limassol Carnival Parade

The big moment happens on Sunday, February 22nd. Archbishop Makarios III Avenue in Limassol turns into a colorful river. The parade kicks off from the Agios Nikolaos roundabout at 1:00 p.m. and makes its way to the Polemidia traffic lights.

The excitement starts with music and costumes: the Philharmonic, majorettes, serenaders, and percussion groups lead the way, creating a festive atmosphere. Then come the floats, costume groups, and themed entries that amaze every year, along with the Carnival Queen and her entourage. It’s when spectators and participants come together as one.

Carnival in Agros

The carnival spirit even reaches the mountains. Agros, one of the prettiest mountain villages, keeps traditions alive during Carnival days. The village streets fill with costumes, music, and children’s laughter in a more spontaneous and close-knit celebration.

The carnival parade happens on Sunday, February 22nd at 3:30 p.m., starting at Apeiteio Gymnasium. Young and old wear their costumes and head out for an afternoon full of dance, music, and laughter — memories that last a lifetime.

All you need? A good mood, a bit of creativity for your costume — and a desire to celebrate. 🎭
