Today is all about tradition, theater, literature, and carnival fun across the island. Paphos starts the day early with its Carnival Treasure Hunt at 28th October Square. In Giolou, a blooming almond tree inspires a festival filled with music and dance at the 7th annual event.
At 11 AM, the Paralimni-Deryneia Town Hall hosts the presentation of Michalakis G. Tsapparilas’ book “Lenos M. Tsoukkas, an Unjustly Lost Hero and 39 Other Stories” as part of the “Winter of Culture.” At the same time, Larnaca turns into an outdoor party with a parade of floats on Phinikoudes.
Nicosia kicks off the morning with some theater. At 10:30 AM, THOC Theater presents Andersen’s “The Emperor’s New Clothes,” directed by Marina Vronti. Later, the JOEY Aglantzia Carnival fills the streets with color and music. Meanwhile, the Cultural Foundation of Bank of Cyprus offers a cooking workshop on Clean Monday’s oil-free treats.
In Limassol, the children’s parade begins at 11:30 AM, moving from the coastal road to the old port. The Batukinio percussion group, the Carnival Queen, and majorettes lead the way. In the afternoon, serenaders gather outside Perama to honor Giorgos Giorgalletos and remember past serenaders.
At 5:30 PM, Latsia Municipal Theater presents Giorgos Tsiakkas’ comedy “Here We Say SOS.” Around the same time in Ayia Napa, Marina screens the family movie “Lady and the Tramp” as part of Cinema Rendez-vous.
The day wraps up with music and dance at Lanitis Carob Mill. At 8:30 PM, Time Surfers Party Band brings disco vibes to end a Sunday full of sights, sounds, and reasons to enjoy every corner of Cyprus.
