“The Cyprus Coaches Association is very concerned and upset about today’s serious incident during the U12 match between Apollon and Aris. Reports say that a parent of an opposing player brutally attacked the coach of the U12 team of Aris Limassol, leading to his hospitalization for surgery.
As football professionals who support fair play, respect, and safety for everyone, we strongly condemn any form of violence. It should be clear that violence has no place in sports, especially in youth leagues.
We urge the relevant authorities to fully investigate this incident and take the right actions to clarify it. We also demand preventive measures to ensure such incidents do not happen again. Furthermore, we ask the Cyprus Football Association and all involved parties to work harder to protect the safety of coaches, children, and everyone in the sports community.
The Cyprus Coaches Association stands with the coach who was a victim of violence and his family, wishing him a quick and full recovery.
Such behaviors do not reflect the values of football and must be addressed seriously.”
