Cyprus’ economy closed 2025 with real GDP growth of 3.8%, clearly above the European Union average of 1.5%, according to the latest Eurostat release.

The result stands out further against 2024, when overall EU growth was 1.1%. In that broader context, Cyprus ranked among the strongest annual performers in the bloc.

Eurostat’s comparison places Ireland first (+12.3%), Malta second (+4.0%), and Cyprus third (+3.8%). The weakest growth rates were recorded in Germany and Finland (+0.2% each) and Hungary (+0.4%).

Eurostat notes that the figures refer to real GDP and its main components across all member states, providing a comparable picture of each economy’s trajectory within the EU.
