Cyprus recorded a notable inflation slowdown in February, with the annual rate easing to 0.9% from 1.2% in January, according to Eurostat preliminary data.

This is the lowest figure in the European Union. The reading was recorded before the latest Middle East escalation, which has revived concerns over renewed inflationary pressure through fuel prices.

Across the euro area, annual inflation is estimated at 1.9% in February 2026, up from 1.7% in January.

By main components in the euro area, services are expected to post the highest annual rate (3.4% versus 3.2% in January), followed by food, alcohol and tobacco (2.6%, unchanged), non-energy industrial goods (0.7% versus 0.4%), and energy (-3.2% versus -4.0%).
