The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow warning for Cyprus. Expect rain, storms, and very strong winds, reaching 6–7 Beaufort. Hail may occur during storms.
This warning is in effect from 10:00 PM on Tuesday until 10:00 PM on New Year’s Eve.
This afternoon, the weather will be partly cloudy, becoming mostly cloudy. Isolated showers are expected, mainly in the west and mountainous areas. Winds will come from the south to southwest, light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort. They will gradually become moderate to strong in the west and south, locally strong at 4 to 5 Beaufort. Later on, winds are expected to strengthen further. The sea will be slightly rough but will become rough in the west and south.
Tonight, expect worsening weather with rain and isolated thunderstorms. Hail may occur during thunderstorms. Snow or sleet is possible on the highest peaks of Troodos. Winds will blow mainly from the southwest, moderate to strong at 4 to 5 Beaufort. Along the coast, they may reach strong to very strong at 5 to 6 Beaufort, occasionally hitting gale force at 7 Beaufort. The sea will be rough and later locally very rough. The temperature will drop to around 8 degrees inland, about 12 degrees on the coast, and around 2 degrees in the higher mountains.
Tomorrow, expect cloudy weather with rain and isolated thunderstorms. Hail may occur during thunderstorms. Snow or sleet is possible on the highest peaks of Troodos. Winds will blow from the southwest, strong to very strong at 5 to 6 Beaufort. Along the coast, they may occasionally reach gale force at 7 Beaufort. The sea will be generally rough to very rough. The temperature will rise to around 16 degrees inland, about 18 degrees on the coast, and around 4 degrees in the higher mountains.
