The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, announced today in Limassol that he is thinking about completely abolishing the Agency after the controversial video.
He stressed that this issue is serious. The relevant authorities will use all tools for a thorough investigation, with help from foreign countries and the European Union. The President promised that the thousands of students who benefited from the Agency will still get support and that the funds managed by the organization will be used transparently, without affecting support for beneficiaries.
At the same time, he mentioned that they are considering moving the Agency to the State Scholarship Foundation. The donor list will be published legally, “with open cards and clean hands.” About his office director Charalambos Charalambous resigning, the President called the move an “act of confidence and trust.”
