The President of the Republic said Cyprus is in active contact with the European Commission over the foot-and-mouth disease issue and is preparing direct communication with Ursula von der Leyen. The aim is to align national decisions with EU-level coordination and support.
Following a meeting at the Presidential Palace, the government stated that concrete response actions have already been agreed. The immediate priority now is implementation, in order to reduce both sanitary and economic risks.
Commission involvement is seen as a critical stabilizing factor, given the wider implications for agriculture, market confidence, and social resilience.
