The ‘Kronos’ gas field is almost ready. It’s set to send Cypriot natural gas to Europe, said President Mr. Nikos Christodoulides today. He mentioned that all related work should be done by the end of March. He will also visit Egypt, invited by the President, to join the Energy Forum in Cairo.
During a meeting at the Presidential Palace with ENI’s Mr. Guido Brusco, the President said, “It’s great that we are in the final stage of ‘Kronos’. This is important for us, for you, for Egypt, and for Europe. I look forward to finalizing the completion work as soon as we can. Yesterday, I got a letter from President Sisi inviting me to the Energy Forum in Cairo from March 30th to April 1st. I also asked for the President of the European Commission to join us.”
“We need to finish by March 30th; our team is ready. We’ve talked with Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum too. This will be our first development from plots in our Exclusive Economic Zone. It’s very important for our country, economy, and people.”
He added that it’s vital to have the determination to finish the work and send the first Cypriot natural gas to Europe.
Mr. Brusco shared that he had productive talks with Cyprus’s Minister of Energy this morning. He emphasized the company’s strong commitment to Cyprus, noting that $1.2 billion has already been invested by the consortium.
He also mentioned that the agreement with Cyprus, Egypt, ENI, and TOTAL helps move the project forward.
