New fixed-penalty rules for offences at camera-controlled intersections took effect in Cyprus on March 6, following a Council of Ministers decision published in the Official Gazette under Law 91(I)/2024.
Police say the changes are not retroactive and introduce updated fine levels for crossing the mandatory stop line and running a red light.
A stop-line violation now carries a €25 fine. If a vehicle enters a pedestrian crossing on red, the penalty is €85 plus 3 penalty points.
If a vehicle proceeds beyond the crossing—or enters the intersection where no crossing exists—the fine is set at €300 with 3 penalty points.
For matters related to the photo-enforcement system, including payment issues and driver identification, citizens are advised to contact the operating contractor through the official channels listed by police.
