There’s been a huge outcry in Cyprus over a video going around on social media. It shows some people behaving badly towards a dead sea turtle. This happened on a beach in Chloraka, Paphos, and led to the arrest of four local Community Council workers.
The viral footage shows the four men finding the turtle’s body on the shore. Instead of handling it properly, they disrespected it by kicking it and throwing it around, turning the scene into something shocking.
Their actions, caught on video and shared widely, sparked anger from citizens, animal welfare groups, and social media users. Many called it disgraceful treatment of a protected species, even after its death.

Immediate Response from Authorities
Paphos Police acted quickly after the video was released. They identified and arrested the four men for questioning. They are being investigated for mistreating a dead animal and breaking laws that protect nature and wildlife.
Condemnation by Community Council
The President of the Chloraka Community Council publicly condemned the incident. He expressed regret over the disturbing images. He stressed that such behavior doesn’t reflect community values and won’t be tolerated. He also mentioned that there will be disciplinary actions following the criminal investigation.
