The Wolt delivery riders’ strike enters its second day with even greater participation in Nicosia, Larnaca and Limassol. The platform is displaying messages that orders can only be placed from nearby stores, while delivery times are significantly extended.
Shop owners reported they managed to fulfil only a very limited number of orders. A virtual meeting between Wolt, rider representatives and the PEO trade union is scheduled for tomorrow at 11:30 a.m.
The central demand remains better pay. Workers describe their income as humiliating, saying it doesn’t cover fuel and vehicle maintenance costs. They are requesting higher per-route pay, which has been steadily declining.
Equally critical is the safety issue, with repeated incidents of racist violence, attacks and thefts during night shifts. Wolt stated it respects its partners’ right to express their views and is in contact with their representatives. The Wolt Workers’ Union of Attica also expressed solidarity.
