A fire broke out on Monday night at an abandoned warehouse in Agios Dometios, triggering an immediate alarm and the mobilization of strong Fire Service forces. According to testimonies from neighbors, the warehouse is a frequent spot where youths set off firecrackers, a fact that contributed to the intensity of the situation.
Journalist Constantinos Hambalis published a video capturing the ferocity of the fire and the destruction. The Fire Service responded immediately, with four vehicles from Nicosia stations operating at the scene. Members of the force entered the warehouse using breathing apparatus to fully extinguish the fire, while remaining on alert around nearby apartment blocks for preventive protection.
The warehouse was completely gutted by the fire, while adjacent cypress trees were also burned. Firefighting forces continue to operate with the aim of fully eliminating the fire front and securing the area, while the causes of the incident will be investigated immediately after the fire is extinguished.
