The accident happened on Thursday afternoon. A 37-year-old driver hit a flashing arrow sign in the right lane during roadworks. Sadly, Ioannou was struck while placing cones to close the fast lane.
The 70-year-old suffered fatal injuries, leaving his family and colleagues heartbroken at the scene. The 37-year-old driver was arrested to help with the investigation. He took alcohol and drug tests, which came back negative. The Police are gathering statements, including from the victim’s colleagues, to understand what led to this tragic collision.
