Turkish Cypriot politician Tufan Erhürman highlights the need for cooperation between the two communities on Halloumi. He suggests setting up a bicommunal technical committee.
In his post, Mr. Erhürman talked about Foot-and-Mouth Disease. He noted that the issue is being closely watched. The Government of the Republic of Cyprus often mentions the occupied areas in its statements.
He stated that the Turkish Cypriot side has done timely vaccinations. In some cases, vaccines were given to the free areas when needed.
About the halloumi inspection process, he said the Turkish Cypriot side is waiting for procedures to finish. This will allow inspections to start in the occupied areas. They aim to resolve this issue by the end of January.
He emphasized that the idea for a bicommunal technical committee came from the Turkish Cypriot side. He is open to any cooperation in agriculture and livestock sectors.
To wrap up, he urged the Greek Cypriot side to make necessary decisions. This way, they can tackle challenges in agriculture together for the benefit of the whole island.
