The growing ties between India and Cyprus, Cyprus’s rise as a service hub, and Eurobank’s key role in creating the financial corridor were highlighted at the India–Cyprus Summit 2026: A Dialogue on Investment, Innovation and Human Capital, hosted by the High Commission of India in Cyprus.
At the conference, Eurobank’s efforts to attract global investments and position Cyprus as a gateway to Europe were emphasized. In the last two years, Eurobank Group has become one of the most active European banks in India. It uses its strong capital, vast banking experience, and wide European presence.
Eurobank’s main strategy for India is the India–Greece–Cyprus (IGC) Business & Investment Council, which was set up by the Bank with help from the Indian Chamber of Commerce and institutions from all three countries. The IGC acts as a platform to boost trade and investment in key sectors like infrastructure, technology, energy, shipping, financial services, tourism, and innovation.
Mr. Sanjay Tugnait, President and CEO of Fairfax Digital Services, said: “The IGC shows our commitment to investing in Smart Infrastructure for sustainable growth. Financial connectivity needs digital tools, strong data systems, and reliable AI. These investments are essential for a robust economy and social progress today. Those who act with vision will help create a safer and better future.”
During conference meetings, Mr. Michalis Louis, CEO of Eurobank Limited, talked about opening a Representative Office in Mumbai’s financial hub. This makes Eurobank the first Greek and Cypriot bank with a physical office in India. “We are dedicated to supporting this partnership. We plan to open Eurobank’s Representative Office in Mumbai in March. This is a big step in our long-term commitment to India and aims to build strong financial links for Indian businesses to access Europe through Cyprus,” he mentioned.
At the conference, Dr. Konstantinos Vrachimis, Director of Eurobank’s Economic Research Unit, led a panel discussion on growth opportunities for trade between the two countries.
