A 71-year-old woman was struck on the highway after she parked her car in the emergency lane. When tragic accidents happen on roads we think are safe, we must ask what can be done to stop them.
This year, the number of fatalities has increased. We have four more deaths than last year and 11 more than in 2023, which was our best year for reducing road deaths. Now is not the time to analyze the causes, but we all need to think about our driving habits and change them right away. Using mobile phones, speeding, not wearing seat belts, and failing to signal turns can all lead to serious accidents. If we don’t change our ways, the death toll will keep rising.
