Marios Lambrou is a dad of a five-year-old with thalassemia. He shared the deep worry every parent feels about their child’s life.

Marios Lambrou talked on the show Protoselido about the daily stress families face with children who have thalassemia in Cyprus. He made a public appeal after his son needed a transfusion but found out there was no blood available.

The transfusion process is tricky and needs exact checks for hemoglobin, compatibility, and specific blood types for each child. The need is constant—about twice a month, every month, every day. Any delay or blood shortage turns into a fight for survival. Mr. Lambrou calls for more regular donors. ‘We don’t just want them to come every three or four months. We need steady support for our kids—from schools, from the army, from anyone who can help.’

It’s important to know that Blood Donation Centers send daily messages to donors, highlighting the need and encouraging those who can help.

His son has been getting transfusions since he was three and a half months old. The start was tough, with tiny veins and many tears, but now the child cooperates and the family holds onto hope. Their story is not unique. It reflects the daily lives of many families living with anxiety and needing blood. Every drop, every donor can save a life. And every life deserves our care and attention.
