From March 1, 2026, until today, 95-octane petrol has increased by 10.7 cents per liter, diesel by 16.7 cents, and heating oil by 13.6 cents. According to estimates, the price hikes are expected to continue in the coming weeks.
Compared to the first fuel subsidy in March 2022, prices today are noticeably higher, while the Consumer Price Index has risen from 107 to 117 points. The Cyprus Consumers Association emphasizes that restoring the subsidy will not significantly affect public finances and proposes a reduction of up to 8.3 cents per liter for petrol and diesel, and 6.2 cents for heating oil.
In a letter to the Ministry of Finance, the Association asks that the current financial situation of consumers be taken into account and that the immediate reinstatement of the subsidy be seriously considered.
