A conflict has come up between the State Health Services Organization (OKYPY) and the Ministry of Health. It’s about an ambulance worth around €300,000, and there’s disagreement over how to manage and use it.
The Wondrous Babies Association is worried about the situation with ambulance management after the clash between the Ministry of Health and OKYPY.
This ambulance is noted as the only one of its kind in Cyprus.
Just a reminder, in 2020, it donated a fully equipped ambulance for transporting newborns, children, and pregnant women, costing €300,000. The announcement states that the ongoing issue about who manages ambulances — including this special vehicle — could disrupt their smooth operation. This could directly affect patients, especially newborns who need specialized care.
The Association urges the Government to quickly resolve the dispute, stressing that responsibility issues should not harm the quality of health services. They should be settled with public interest and protection of vulnerable citizens in mind.
