The alleged domestic violence case involving Paphos mayor Faidon Faidonos is moving back into an active investigative stage after new developments around medical records.
According to the report, Nicosia CID officers went to the offices of Reporter and collected documents under a formal order. Police confirmed that instructions were issued for the documents to be received and assessed.
The documents are presented as originals and relate to the mayor’s wife being examined at Nicosia General Hospital’s emergency department in 2017. If their authenticity is confirmed, they could carry investigative weight in the case.
Until now, the indication from authorities had been that the ex officio inquiry was unlikely to proceed to court because of insufficient evidence, after legal evaluation had already taken place. With the new material, that track is being reconsidered.
In its public response, police said only that the documents would be evaluated, without detailing the next procedural step.
