Israeli media reports about a severe beating of an Israeli at a Limassol hotel for speaking Hebrew are not true, say police sources. They explain that the incident was a clash with fellow Israelis.
The reports, which have been spreading online since yesterday, mention a young Israeli who was severely beaten, based on his father’s claims on social media. The father says the attack happened when others heard him speaking Hebrew at the hotel entrance. The young man has since returned to Israel for eye surgery and may lose his sight.
Police sources stated that “the reports are not true” and that the incident involved Israelis during an event at the hotel. “The Israeli reportedly had an argument with his compatriots and said in writing that he has no complaints,” they added.
The case is being looked into by the Episkopi Police Station.
