Heavy rainfall has caused serious problems on the road network, with rockfalls and landslides cutting access to several mountainous and semi-mountainous communities.
According to an announcement by the Department of Forests, the forest road between ‘Selladi tis Horas’ and ‘Selladi tou Karamanli’ has been completely closed due to large volumes of soil and rocks that collapsed onto the roadway. The relevant services are working to clear the road, with further updates expected.
Police announced that the Spilia–Saranti road also remains closed, while rockfalls have been reported at many points across the network. Drivers are urged to exercise extreme caution.
Additional problems have been identified on the road from the Agia Marina Xyliatou dam toward Kannavia, where one traffic lane has been closed due to landslides. Authorities are urging citizens to avoid mountain routes unless absolutely necessary and to follow the instructions of the competent services.
