The Larnaca Criminal Court has sentenced a 45-year-old and a 33-year-old to five years in prison. They were found guilty of arson from last July in the Larnaca district.

Details of the case show that on July 3, 2025, someone in a car approached a 70-year-old’s home in the Aradippou area and threw two homemade incendiary devices, called ‘Molotov cocktails,’ into the yard. The fire started, but the 70-year-old put it out himself before any damage or injuries happened.

The Larnaca CID looked into the case. They collected evidence through witness statements and investigations, which led to the arrest and conviction of the two men. In this same case, police also arrested a 35-year-old after the 70-year-old reported another arson attempt. The 70-year-old told police that around 5:30 AM, someone threw two more ‘Molotov cocktails’ into his yard, causing another fire that was quickly put out.

Investigations by the Larnaca CID provided evidence against the 35-year-old. This resulted in an arrest warrant from the court. The suspect was arrested that afternoon and held for police questioning. The Larnaca CID is still investigating.
