Once again, the Winter Swimmers of Larnaca showed their love for the sea by participating in the annual event held today, Sunday, January 11, at the club’s base in the Mackenzie area.
The event combined dives into icy waters, food, drinks, and a warm festive atmosphere, with participation from both young and old. A central feature was the cutting of the Vasilopita, attended by the Mayor of Larnaca, Andreas Vyras, who braved the cold along with members of the Municipal Council.
The event was also attended by AKEL MP Nikos Kettirou, Giorgos Koukumas, Andreas Pasiourtides, Municipal Councilor Anna Okkas, and other notable figures and personalities from Larnaca and the surrounding area, adding prestige to the event.
The event once again highlighted the vibrancy, tradition, and love of the local community for the sea. Participants promise to continue this tradition in the coming years.
The lucky winner of this year’s Winter Swimmers Club Vasilopita was Elena Charalambous – a member of the group who is not afraid of the cold and dives into icy waters with a smile. Elena won the coin and a bit of luck for the new year.
