Today is a lively cultural day in Limassol, filled with fun events and a carnival vibe.
This afternoon at 4 PM, the Rialto Theatre hosts ‘A Dream, A Wish, A Voice, A Hope’. This charity event supports children fighting cancer. It’s organized with ‘A Dream A Wish’ and directed by Stelios Michailidis. All money raised will help the association’s work.
The carnival fun starts in the morning. At 10 AM, the Pano Solomonides Cultural Center has a workshop for making masks and hats. Carnival queens Monica Pieridou and Elena Papadopoulou will lead it, along with kids from Limassol Majorettes and Cyprus Guides Majorettes.
Later, Agia Fyla Square will host ‘The Great Carnival’ by the Cultural and Dance Group ‘Dionysos’ at 1 PM. At 3:30 PM, city cyclists will enjoy a carnival ride starting from the Medieval Castle and returning there.
In the afternoon, outside the Municipal University Library, a serenade festival takes place. It’s organized with Limassol Municipality and the ‘Limassol Serenaders’. Groups like EDON Limassol Serenaders, ‘Modern Times’, Ariones, Cyprus Serenaders group, and the male vocal ensemble ‘Ilantros’ will perform.
The day wraps up at 9 PM at Lanitis Carob Mill with ‘Valentine’s Goes Carnival’. DJ Panikos Karpetta will play music, and there’s a best costume contest themed around Saint Valentine. Entry is free but you need to reserve tickets via Ticketmaster with support from the Ministry of Health.
At Pattichion Theatre at 7:30 PM, Slovenia’s National Ballet Maribor presents ‘Radio and Juliet’ and ‘Proof’, showcasing amazing contemporary dance.
If you’re in Nicosia, check out George Tsiakkas’ comedy ‘Here We Say SOS’ at Latsia Municipal Theatre at 8 PM. Directed by Marina Vrondi, it features many well-known actors.
Lastly, from 10 AM to 1 PM, the Ithaca Foundation is organizing a blood donation in memory of Theodosis Karaolis at the Old Limassol Hospital. It’s a great way for citizens to get involved in their community.
