Limassol is moving quickly with the upgrade of Aktaia Road, adding a temporary metal bridge over the Garyllis delta to connect the corridor with the new port area and create a continuous route for pedestrians and cyclists.
The project costs around €20,000, covering both fabrication and installation. Works began about a week ago and are expected to conclude within days, with public access planned immediately after completion.
The bridge effectively extends the existing bike lane, which had previously ended near Alexandrias Street. Further small interventions are planned to connect this section with the current network near the new port, creating a unified route that can reach Lady’s Mile.
At the same time, Limassol Municipality is continuing clean-up works, riverbank reinforcement, demolition of illegal structures and new tree planting as part of a broader environmental restoration effort.
According to the city’s schedule, works will intensify ahead of the international conference on the “Cities Mission 2030” and climate neutrality, to be hosted in Limassol on 19-20 March.
