With lots of input from citizens and groups, the Municipality of Limassol has started public consultations for the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan. The first meeting was all about the city center.

In a statement, Mayor Yiannis Armeftis said that traffic is a major issue in the city. He noted that we can’t fix it with just quick fixes. We need careful planning, commitment, and active citizen involvement to make the center safer, more functional, and friendly for everyone.

The consultation focused on the western part of the center, bordered by Navarinou, Ellados, and Eleftherias streets. It also included the eastern part between Gladstonos, Olympion, 28th October, and Anexartisias streets. The University of Cyprus, TEPAK, and Frederick University helped present the study and support this process.

Some suggested measures include changing some streets to one-way to improve traffic flow, boost road safety, and make public spaces nicer for pedestrians.

The second public consultation will take place on Saturday, February 7th at 10:00 AM at the “Panos Solomonides” Cultural Center. This meeting will focus on traffic rules in the Neapolis area. The Municipality encourages everyone interested to join in.
