A tragic aviation accident in Turkey now includes a Greek name. Among the victims of the private Dassault Falcon 50 jet crash is flight attendant Maria Pappa, a crew member on the doomed jet.

Maria Pappa was the cabin chief on the plane, which belonged to Harmony Jets, a company based in Malta. Right now, all crew members are reported to be foreign nationals. It’s not yet confirmed if Maria Pappa was Greek or of Greek descent. While official identification is still pending, her loved ones are saying goodbye on social media, many are heartbroken and grieving. The Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not received any official notice yet. The presence of a Greek name among the victims makes this case more significant as Turkish and Libyan authorities continue their investigations.

The aircraft, registered as 9H-DFJ, took off from Ankara’s Esenboğa Airport, heading to Tripoli. Shortly after takeoff, while flying over Haymana, the crew signaled for an emergency landing before all communication was lost.
