DIPA filed a complaint with the Limassol Crime Detection Department (TAD) following a vandalism attack on its offices in Limassol. The incident became known as the perpetrators released a video of their actions.
The video shows masked individuals using metal objects to break into the office door, causing it to collapse onto the floor. Additionally, photos released by DIPA show significant damage to the office entrance. DIPA stated that this was a “premeditated act of vandalism,” emphasizing that the security of the offices and employees is a primary concern.
The Government Spokesperson, Konstantinos Letymbiotis, condemned the attack in a related post, calling it a “deplorable act of violence that undermines democratic dialogue.” He stressed that “the attack and vandalism at DIPA’s offices constitute a direct insult and assault on Democracy, which we all have a responsibility to protect.”
Mr. Letymbiotis further noted that such actions have no connection with political expression and that violence can never replace dialogue and respect for democratic institutions. He also urged society and political forces to condemn such acts and support the functioning of democratic processes.
This incident adds to a series of similar actions targeting political parties and institutions, increasing concerns about the safety of public and political spaces in Limassol. Authorities are conducting investigations to identify the perpetrators and prevent similar incidents in the future.
