On the night of February 8, players around the world faced a large-scale failure of the PlayStation Network (PSN). The first reports of problems began to appear around 02:00 Moscow time, and a few hours later the situation has not changed – the service remains unavailable.
Sony confirmed the problems, publishing a message on social networks:
“We are aware that some users are experiencing difficulties connecting to PSN. We are working to resolve the issue.”
Sony also suggests keeping an eye on the official PSN status page for updates, which states that all key services (online gaming, PlayStation Store, account management) are temporarily down.
At the moment, there is no official data on the reasons for the PSN outage. However, the analysis of user reports shows that the failure affected Europe, North America, Japan and other regions. At the same time , Xbox Live, Steam and Nintendo Online continue to function without interruption, which excludes the possibility of a global problem with the Internet infrastructure.
Sony has not yet given an exact timeframe for fixing the malfunction. Usually such failures are eliminated within a few hours, but at the moment PSN remains completely inaccessible.
