MEP Phidias Panayiotou has not received any official notice about a possible investigation by the European Public Prosecutor’s Office for misusing EU funds.
In a chat with Fileleftheros and journalist Frixos Dalitis, the MEP said he hasn’t been informed about any investigation into allegations against him. He plans to address the issue publicly soon with a video on social media.
Earlier reports said the Anti-Corruption Authority sent complaints about the Cypriot MEP to the European Public Prosecutor’s Office, which are said to be anonymous. Both the European Public Prosecutor’s Office and its partner service, OLAF, are looking into these allegations. He believes these reports are linked to election motives.
