The “Mora Thaumata” association met Health Minister Neofytos Charalambidis to discuss the needs of premature newborns and their families in Cyprus. The meeting covered the full care path, from birth through long-term follow-up.
Participants placed special emphasis on stronger psychological and financial support for families, as well as the urgent upgrade of the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). The association said there is no room for further delay.
The minister responded positively to the proposals and expressed commitment to meaningful support. The cooperation framework discussed aims at practical interventions in neonatal care delivery.
The association also highlighted its ongoing contribution through initiatives and donations, including funding for a Family Room and improvements to NICU rooms at Makarios Hospital, to improve conditions for infants and parents.
