The Municipality of Paralimni – Deryneia announces the opening of the new Deryneia Market on Saturday, December 27, 2025.
The new market is a modern infrastructure project designed to accommodate up to 36 producers and farmers. It offers organized and covered spaces for selling products. Additionally, there are spacious parking areas for the public, with provisions for people with disabilities and spaces for large vehicles like buses and trucks.
The project also includes a café, square, sidewalks, playground, green spaces, and modern public sanitary facilities. This creates a multifunctional space for recreation and social gatherings. The new Deryneia Market offers an upgraded and friendly environment for both producers and visitors of all ages, enhancing the local economy and quality of life in the area.
The Deryneia Market was implemented under the Rural Development Program 2014–2020, specifically Measure 7 concerning “Basic Services and Village Renewal in Rural Areas”. The project was co-financed by the Cyprus Agricultural Payments Organization, the European Funds Unit of the Ministry of Interior, and the Municipality of Paralimni – Deryneia, with a total cost of 1.5 million euros.
The market will operate every Saturday from 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM, offering the public fresh and local products directly from producers. Announcements regarding the operation of the café on-site are expected at a later stage. Until then, the existing canteen manager will continue to serve the public.
One might say that the new market in Deryneia is a significant step towards strengthening local production and directly connecting producers with consumers. This initiative is expected to bring life to both local traditions and the daily lives of residents and visitors.
