Cyprus’s House plenary is considering a new legal framework for food-service and entertainment venues, aimed at modernizing the rules and reducing administrative burden.
The core change is a unified year-round timetable allowing food and leisure establishments to operate until 03:30.
For entertainment venues such as music-dance clubs and discotheques, the framework allows possible extensions to 05:00 through a formal decree.
The proposal also removes outdated requirements, simplifies licensing procedures, and shifts licensing authority closer to local government structures.
At the same time, enforcement tools are strengthened, including administrative fines and immediate suspension mechanisms in cases involving public-health or safety risks.
