Members of the Drug Enforcement Unit (YKAN) in Nicosia arrested a 41-year-old man yesterday. This was part of an investigation into bringing a large amount of cannabis into Cyprus.
Evidence shows that a package with about seven kilograms of cannabis arrived in the country last February through a courier company. Further investigations led to testimony against the 41-year-old, resulting in a judicial arrest warrant.
The suspect was found and arrested yesterday afternoon. During a search of his home, YKAN members discovered and seized a small amount of cannabis, mobile phones, and other evidence that will be scientifically examined. The 41-year-old is in custody and will appear before the Nicosia District Court today for a detention order. Investigations by YKAN (Nicosia Branch) are still ongoing.
