Residents of Aglantzia need to be patient and ready for trips, as the Aglantzia Municipal Pool is closed again this year.
The renovation started in 2024 is delayed and won’t reopen until at least September 2026.
Aglantzia’s deputy mayor, Andreas Constantinou, told Omega that delays are due to energy upgrades and high costs, totaling 1.3 million euros. Although there’s an agreement with KOA to cover most costs, there’s no official commitment to start the work yet.
The pool’s closure has upset many residents, as after a brief opening in summer 2025, they have no nearby place to cool off. This delay raises concerns about how municipal projects are managed and leaves citizens looking for alternatives far from Nicosia. The situation shows a long-standing issue with coordinating and funding public infrastructure, making a basic service unavailable to the community.
