A video released on the platform ‘X’ has caused a big stir among opposition parties. The video questions how funds were handled during the 2023 election campaign and the government’s ties with investors at the Presidential Palace.
Opposition members want quick answers, saying the leak harms institutions. Political leaders and MPs reacted fast, speaking out publicly. DISY President Annita Demetriou said she expects the relevant authorities to take action. Meanwhile, AKEL General Secretary Stefanos Stefanou pointed out that the material raises serious institutional and political concerns, urging the government to give clear answers. MP Irini Charalambidou called the video shocking and stressed the need for an immediate response. Alexandra Attalidou added that when the opposition talked about transparency, the government called them toxic, but now citizens see the facts for themselves.
Reports say the presidency reacted right away, firmly rejecting the video’s claims. Official statements describe it as ‘slander’, ‘fabricated material’, and a ‘targeted effort to destabilize’ the President and institutions. Government sources believe the timing of the leak is not a coincidence, especially since Cyprus is at a crucial point regarding the Cyprus issue and taking on important European roles.
