On Saturday, Limassol had a moment that can’t be timed, only felt. The 5-kilometer race of the XM Limassol Marathon 2026 ended in great success, turning the coast into a lively chain of energy and excitement.
Early in the morning, over 10,000 runners of all ages lined up at the start in Epichosi. They brought life to a route along October 28th Avenue. Families, kids, corporate teams, and everyday folks united in a race that showed sports are all about joining in and sharing experiences.
The city buzzed with the Marathon’s energy, closing the coastal road to traffic from morning. Police and traffic officers helped keep everything running smoothly. Even with rain and traffic changes, the vibe was positive. People were understanding and cheered on the effort.
The biggest message of the day came at the finish line. Every participant completed the course, showing that willpower can overcome any challenge. There were no winners or losers — just people who started and finished.
This year’s event has over 17,000 runners from 68 countries. It’s not just about competition. Thanks to XM’s support, the Marathon also has a strong social side, backing the Cyprus Multiple Sclerosis Association and its work for those living with the disease.
The help from many volunteer groups, companies, students, and local organizations was key. Their presence along the route added special color and energy. They cheered on runners with applause, shouts, or smiles.
The event continues on Sunday with the half marathon, featuring a tougher route that crosses the city’s coast and heads to Asomatos before returning to Epichosi.
For Limassol, however, the message was already clear on Saturday. When a city comes together, no distance is too far. And so, among steps and breaths, another chapter was written in an event that has become a beloved tradition.
