Every year, more than 400,000 kids and teens are diagnosed with cancer. World Childhood Cancer Day on February 15 reminds us to support and give hope to every young hero.
In rich countries, the survival rate can reach up to 80%. But in poorer countries, it’s only about 20%. The WHO Global Initiative for Childhood Cancer aims to boost survival rates to at least 60% for all kids by 2030. They also want to reduce pain and suffering.
If they succeed, over one million children will be saved in the next ten years. The Cyprus Association of Parents and Friends of the Pediatric Oncology Unit highlights the need for early diagnosis, access to quality treatment, and psychological support without any geographical or economic barriers.
