Even though Juventus isn’t at their best, few thought Paphos would push them so hard in yesterday’s (12/10) match in Turin.
In the first half, while watching on TV, we wondered if the light blue jerseys were Paphos or the famous ‘Old Lady’ of Italian football.
But that strong performance didn’t carry into the second half. Luciano Spalletti’s team found their rhythm and scored twice against Neofytos Michael’s goal.
The international Cypriot goalkeeper, his teammates, the coach, and the whole Paphian team have every reason to feel proud. They really challenged the well-known Italian team in the first half.
They dropped in the Champions League ranking from 24th to 26th place, but they shouldn’t lose hope. Their chances for qualification are slimmer, but not gone.
They still have two matches left in the top competition: against Chelsea in London on 1/27/2026 and a week later against Slavia Prague in Limassol. It’s clear that winning against David Luiz’s former team will be tough. The final match at home against the Czechs will be key. Right now, it’s hard to predict. If they get 3 points, it might be enough to move forward…
