The CEO of Neftchi Baku, Senk Sumer, spoke to azerisport.com and confirmed news about Mamadov and Paphos.
“Paphos is very interested in him. He has told us he wants to play abroad. He came from our academy. We respect his wishes and will support him. His success matters to us. If he leaves, we will cheer for him,” he said at first and then added:
“We wanted to sign a new contract with him since last season, but Mamadov didn’t agree. He thought it would be easier to join a new team without a contract. We understood that. Our main goal is for him to represent Neftchi and Azerbaijan well. This will inspire our other young players. Of course, we hope for some financial gain, but last year he played little, while this year he has really shown his talent. The national team of Azerbaijan has gained a great winger.”
