Today’s meeting of the Institutions Committee turned into a heated debate about transparency in the Independent Social Support Body.
It all started when independent MP Andreas Themistocleous likened AKEL’s statements to ‘gossip at the Saint Anthony’s café.’ Giorgos Loukaidis quickly fired back, calling him a ‘political thug.’ Even with the Committee Chairman trying to calm things down, the argument kept escalating.
The tension spilled over to the Legal Affairs Committee, where the Chief of Police clashed with union representative Nikos Loizidis from ‘Equality,’ accusing them of making ‘amateur decisions’ and saying he wouldn’t accept any more insults. Today is marked as one of the most dramatic days in recent months, with parliamentary discussions feeling more like a boxing match than a Committee session.
