The police were active and focused in key city areas last night. They kept up their efforts to stop serious crimes, protect people, and maintain public order.
As part of these actions, they concentrated on serious crimes, leading to the arrest of 11 individuals nationwide. In the Limassol district, six people were arrested for having offensive weapons (like knives and brass knuckles), house burglary, possessing fake money, illegal stay, and drug possession. They also seized six cars and two motorcycles during traffic investigations.
In the Paphos district, three arrests were made for illegal entry into the country, carrying a knife, being drunk, and causing a disturbance. One vehicle was taken for traffic violation checks. In the Nicosia and Famagusta districts, two more arrests happened for having burglary tools, illegal possession of property, and drug possession.
Meanwhile, the police carried out thorough checks at several places overnight to quickly stop bad behavior. On the roads, over 900 checks were done, leading to 120 traffic citations. Out of these, 55 were for driving under the influence of alcohol, and seven drivers tested positive in initial drug tests.
The operations are part of a wide-ranging and ongoing police plan. They include more officers and targeted checks in all districts to prevent crime and boost citizens’ feeling of safety.
