The Cyprus Police arrested 12 drivers for drunk driving after checks on Tsiknopempti night across Cyprus.

The arrests were part of planned operations, stepped up because more people were out celebrating. Drinking and driving led to several drivers being flagged as a danger to public safety.

During these operations, 379 drivers and passengers were checked, and inspections took place at 20 places. Also, 117 traffic violations were noted, along with three reports of drug-related driving. Two vehicles were taken, and one person was arrested for having stolen property. The Police stress that checks will keep happening with the same focus, especially during busy times. They urge everyone to avoid driving after drinking to keep all road users safe.
